Oh. My. Word. How does Ms. Snow do it? She ALWAYS finds the perfect cover models for her books! This guy IS Quinn. This series is a more light-hearted but still steamy version of the Heart’s Edge series with just as much vengeance and retribution. I loved every word, every sentence and those chapter-titles are beyond hilarious. There was one scene where I was laughing and crying at the same time in chapter XXIII. You’ll know when you read it. Guaranteed!Chicago blue-blood Tory Redson-Riddle-Coffey has come back to stay with her Gran in Dallas, North Dakota to recuperate after a tragic “accident” on the dance floor. Tragic because she is a professional dancer and maybe b/c it wasn’t so accidental. To keep herself busy she helps her uncle with another of his hair-brained ideas: renting goats to clean out pastures of grass and brambles. Tory has fond memories of Dallas where she first met and fell-in-love with Quinn Faulkner. Although there is only three years difference in their ages, it is a lot when she is 15 and he is 18 but not so much anymore. She’s now 26yo and when they meet again (OMG another great moment), sparks fly but they both hold themselves back. That is my only “problem” with the story in that they hold back so long…until chapter XV! Apparently, it is too hard to change from friendship to something else ;-) I will say that Ms. Snow has given her characters a lively and steamy imagination to hold us until chapter XV. Whew…get your fans! Quinn’s feelings for Tory (aka "Tory Three Names") have always been strong but he wanted her to have all the advantages in life she could have so he never told her his true feelings. His pain in holding back is palpable. Love it when the H loves his h with such depth. Once he said, “Tory, I’d follow you to the devil’s doorstep. No question.” And, btw, that’s indicative of how well-written this book is. Beautiful word-pictures.Quinn’s former job in the FBI has some bad people looking to do him harm and he’s afraid for Tory’s safety. Will his fear prove to be prophetic? As always, Ms. Snow ties up all the angst and intrigue with a nice bow. I’m hoping we hear about Grady next. Oh, and Edison the amazing horse has competition in Owl, an amazing Mastiff dog. What can I say?! I LOVED THIS BOOK but of course, I love everything Ms. Snow writes so…I volunteered to review an ARC of this book and it comes highly recommended. Definitely more than 5 stores! The sexual tension and heat is off the charts in this friends to lovers, small town romance! An irresistible country boy who will always come to her rescue and an injured dancer who has finally taken control of her life are getting their chance at their own happily ever after. And if that's not enough to win your heart, you'll get an incredible dog and some crazy goats that will seal the deal.Tory is back in Dallas, North Dakota. She used to spend summers there with her grandma. It was her favorite place once she met Quinn. Although he was three years older, they became the best of friends. He was her first crush, but the age gap was just too big an obstacle when she was a teen.When she left for college those summers of fun with Quinn ended. He went into the military and she pursued her dream of becoming a dancer on the big stage. It's been years, but now they are both back in Dallas. Timing is everything. He moved back to fix up his grandpa's home and barn to sell since he has passed. Tory is back temporarily to heal after a possible career ending knee injury and a broken heart.You can immediately feel the bond between Quinn and Tory. They definitely share a mutual respect and intense attraction. Quinn is determined to keep his distance because his quiet life has just been disrupted. He is a former FBI agent and a past case is back to seek retribution. He wants to protect her from the blow back. Tory is willing to take the risk, because being with Quinn is worth losing everything.Quinn takes it upon himself to look after her while they are trying to catch the men out to get him. Tory has taken on a job from her uncle which leads to quite a it of comic relief. She delivers goats to clean up land for paying customers. Her trusty side kick, Owl the tibetan mastiff, helps to wrangle up the goats and keep them in line. Both the dog and the goats will steal your heart. All these furry friends will prove their worth when Tory needs them most.This story has a lot going on. Tory is healing from an injury, but she is also working toward a new future. She has been pursuing a dream her entire life but she's no longer sure if that dream is hers. It's a struggle between her past and finding a new dream. Quinn is the best of men and all he wants is to keep Tory safe. The man is easy to fall for with his need to protect Tory, and his willingness to accept whatever path she chooses for her future. He encourages her to find her passion and pursue her dream even if it leads her away.I loved all of these characters. From Tory's sassy grandma to the heroic dog and his crazy goats. This was a steamy love story with humor and suspense. It's a great read and everything I have come to love and expect from the author.
